Once a company has passed the vetting procedures allowing it into membership, then the member company is able to use our “Letters of Introduction”. These letters have four functions:
- When a contractor is quoting for a job, these letters introduce that contractor as being a member of the Confederation. The consumer is invited to contact the Confederation to verify membership, and to ask if there are any references that could help him make up his mind to use that particular contractor.
- By asking the consumer to complete and return the survey on the back of the letters, the contractor is building up a stock of references that the Confederation can use to answer questions from the public as above.
- On receipt of completed survey forms, the Confederation will send these to the member so that he can check his service levels. These forms can be used as part of any quality control scheme and also as part of the evidence for ISO 9000 certification.
- The Confederation receives tens of calls a week from members of the public asking for a trader in their area. By receiving completed survey forms, the Confederation is able to supply names of members who have good references and who can then pick up the extra work.
